Mouse Family Finger Puppets PDF pattern/instructions


Downloadable PDF patterns and instructions for making a whole family of little mice with heritage toy appeal from boiled wool, felt, or fleece plus small scraps of fabric. Four sizes are included ranging from 1½ to 5 inches tall. Finish each mouse simply or with a bow, or make complete outfits for them. Make your own family or make them as gifts--you can make any family combination. Dress them up yourself or make a whole batch of mice and let your favorite kid(s) design their costumes and be part of the finishing touches. This is a great project for using up fabric and notion scraps.

What you'll need:

•    Body fabric: 10” x  5” piece of felt, fleece, or boiled wool for each mouse
•    Costume fabric: felt, cottons, wool, tulle, etc.
•    Notions: 1/4” checked ribbon, l/8” ribbon for medium mouse’s sash
•    Eyes: Opaque black glass seed beads - 3mm (6/0), 2 per mouse for adults - 2.1mm (11/0), 2 per mouse for child and baby
•    Thread: body: all-purpose thread— whiskers, eyes: button & carpet/button craft thread
•    Polyester stuffing: small amount for head
•    Yarn or cording for mouse tail
•    Card stock or index weight paper for pattern pieces
•    Chopstick or turning stick
•    Glue: Strong-holding fabric glue: Beacon Fabri-tac or Aleene’s OK to Wash It
•    Small matchbox for base of baby’s bed
•    Pen for tracing patterns onto fabric
•    Needle, scissors, etc.
•    Optional:
•    Disappearing marker for marking position of eyes and  nose
•    Fabric markers for shading: pink, brown
